What will you learn?
We use scratch to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of programming in a way that relates to their interests. They learn how to approach problems and design projects.
Introduction
The students are introduced to the scratch programming environment, engaging in projects designed to guide them through the process of getting start with Scratch.
Explore
The students work on projects emphasizing on the key concept of sequencing - learning how to give computer series of instructions to perform a task, using blocks of code.
Animations
The students get to animate sprites using the computational concepts of loops, events and Scratch's coordinating system - X and Y position.
Stories/Games
The students design games or create stories to get a deeper understanding of the concepts learned and are introduced to list, variables and functions.
Diving Deeper
Students continue to create programs helping them get a fluency on concepts. They will also be introduced to various hardware extensions that connect the digital world of Scratch with physical world.
Hackathon
Students are challanged to design an open-ended project of their choosing.
